Terrorism Yields

August 31, 2010

All terrorism develops in a sickened heart where the mind has been tampered with. The end-product is a human that embodies danger—a spiritual force with altered body chemistry and mental imbalances that enlarge capacity for hate. The terrorist is myopic, values lawless structures, and because of deep-seated personal terror, operates in hiding to attack suddenly. Terror is fear-based and intimidating fear is the platform for all that Satan devises. Akin to the terrorist is the bully who terrorizes to feel powerful and gain control; for the bully, “control” provides momentary comfort and offsets his fear of never achieving anything legitimately. Another terrorist is the abuser who is desperate to recover what he has lost—the abuser is terrified of loss and more loss! All three have in common the “fear of fear,”  the root of fear that drives the contests they crave; their attack is refined through misguided discernment—basically the difference between right and wrong. Through the spiritual forces of intimidation and control, some level of terrorism is born this very second and someone who does not deserve to be mistreated will be.

God is opposite. Our Lord calls us to demonstrate terror’s opposite—the Presence of Almighty God, His Son, His Spirit! We are to give of what we have to encourage and strengthen the whole world and to do it as often as opportunity avails. The opposite of fear is love and love never fails!

True faith reveals the generous man, whose fear has been cast out and whose heart knows freedom! In our day, the LORD distinguishes us to live fearlessly right down the middle, right now! Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Psalm 23:4

Amen.

Called to Bless

August 30, 2010

The word-term blessing conveys the biblical idea of happiness, benefit or praise; its first use in Scripture occurs in Genesis 1:22 as God completes the fifth day of creation: “And God blessed them saying, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.’ ” The word comes from a Hebrew root, barak, meaning “to kneel.” The inference is significant, pointing to the relationship between Creator and creation, existing immediately upon creation, in the beginning.

In blessing His creation, the LORD instituted a continuous flow of giving and receiving — given by Him, given back to Him, by Him, to Him—again and again, repetitively, setting in motion the act of adoration. The creation receives it and ministers it back to the Creator, a fact evidenced by His workmanship in those He created, a reflection and open display of His glory! All people and lands follow this precedent, created to kneel and bless Him, receiving and then multiplying the blessing outwardly to everything around them—called to be a blessing.

Let’s Pray:

Father, Lord I bless you!
I bless my family—I declare blessing to them today.
I pray I will be a blessing in every situation and circumstance;
marked with blessing,
to be a blessing.

Amen.

Say What?

August 27, 2010

Use your heads as you live and work among outsiders. Don’t miss a trick. Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, and not cut them out. Colossians 4:5-6, The Message

Have you noticed the many that have much to say but seldom listen? Godly conversation should ebb and flow as ideas are shared—the interaction provides everyone involved something they did not have before. Our interest in others—in their lives and needs, is a sensitivity we cultivate; and really, that sensitivity is also a discipline. To hear what is being said, to really hear, means we can utilize information gleaned to offer perspective.

A distraction from positive conversation, the person who talks endlessly is insensitive, dominating time and imposing every imaginable opinion; this is not the impression we want to give. Few people want to hear mentally exhausting topics pushed to the forefront of careless conversations—mindless chatter about selfish ordeals, exalting the past or vividly detailing personal problems. The person whose conversations are like this likely does not realize the mire of words that entrap others conversationally.

Christians are to practice edification. We share the same “call” as our Lord and our words are to be seasoned with salt—a preservative; our mission, like His, includes words that elevate the hearer: Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. Colossians 4:6, NKJV

Amen.

Spirit Man

August 26, 2010

It is the LORD who forms the spirit of man within him. Zechariah 12:1

Man is created from the inside out—spirit first, then the soul with a body. At conception there is instant spirit life; soul and body follow this spirit line to become human life, drawn from the life of God—the Creator. From birth forward we discern the “spirit” of a newborn and increasingly know a child by the spirit, providing nurture that cooperates with “the spirit of man within.”

In contrast, the perception of moderns is that life belongs to them and is sprinkled with elements of God at their choosing—a backward approach as is the logic that forms it; the opposite of  this self rule is actually the case: It is He that has made us and not we ourselves. Still, it is not uncommon for human rule to self-believe with greater faith than it submits in dependence to the Creator. A control struggle remain until personal humility is found and we finally see truth. Psalm 100:3

That truth includes understanding where we are, compared to the placement God has for us, and is best accomplished when we have a “teachable” heart. The thing that transforms is the thing we may not have seen before. The Word became flesh and He lived among men; the Word is the Son—the Word became flesh and He, “God the Word,” came and lived among us, setting in motion our transformation to understand reality as “spirit man,” created in His image.

Today, you and I have that Word speaking to us, transforming us: “By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.” Hebrews 11:3 AMP

Amen.

Discipleship & Mentors

August 25, 2010

Then Jesus gave the following illustration: “Can one blind person lead another? Won’t they both fall into a ditch? Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher. Luke 6:39-40

Mentoring is a process that begins with my quality decision to invest in the life of another. To mentor is to contribute to the development of the person being mentored, an objective that requires commitment—time and energy are what I give up in the process; the objective also has a completion date, meaning at some point I plan to step aside and the one I mentor will apply what has been learned with the expectation of surpassing me! John 14:12

The expectation must be right – without an expectation that you will go farther than me, what I do as a mentor cannot produce maturity. To “make disciples” is to mentor. To mentor is to train. To train is to prepare. The heart of the preparation for both disciple and mentor/teacher is to become “fully trained.” This is our objective. Matthew 28:18-20

In training we teach a foundation of personal devotion time—daily. Length of a devotion time is personal and varies, depending in part on how much time is available; the key is not length of time but as much consistency as possible since devotions are first of all relational, a function of grace, not law.

Four things are needed: God’s Word, supportive devotional reading, prayer and intercession, and last but not least, your money—bring something representative of your financial resources into your devotion time, taking advantage of this strong connection time to allow the Spirit’s direction for both 1) your giving—amount and where,  and 2) all management of your money.

Amen.

Behavior of Royalty

August 24, 2010

And Samuel said to all the people, “Do you see him whom the LORD has chosen, that there is no one like him among all the people?”  So all the people shouted and said, “Long live the king!” Then Samuel explained to the people the behavior of royalty, and wrote it in a book and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house. And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and valiant men went with him, whose hearts God had touched. 1 Samuel 10: 24-26, NKJV

Samuel pronounced Saul king and presented him to the people. Saul was special, Samuel explained, and the specialty element reflected the mark of royalty, something one is born to beyond deserving or ability. To be royal is to be born for it.

It’s what we see in those around us. The Lord places His gift in each one and we see the royal lifestyle mark expressive of kings—the behavior of royalty! The sum total of each life is this gift, the Lord’s sovereign design, placed for release through us—naturally, instinctively, gracefully, for the benefit of all.

As we express that gift we stand a head taller than the crowd, are the most joyful, experience faith that’s greatest to both give of ourselves and receive the things we need from others, and its where we are kings—carriers of the heavenly element, on assignment producing Kingdom life—chosen!

Amen.

Start With What You Have

August 19, 2010

Start with what you have and stand firmly in what you know God has told you. Write all He has said and is saying then start with the outline you’ve written. The Lord is on the scene; the predicted end of the challenge – including the sting of it – is at hand. The Lord’s hand is stretched out on your behalf!

You have actually come to a time of the Lord’s favor—He has called for your strength! The Lord is calling for an end of a season in which something other than His best for you has worked, usurping the reality He intended. Obediently, you have pressed with your faith—praying, believing, and making His Word final authority in the situation.

It’s where you are so go ahead and start with what you have; you surely cannot start with what you do not have. Plant your feet, steady your thoughts, make the decision – it’s time to begin.

“The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly. The right hand of the lord is exalted; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly!” Psalm 118:15-16, NKJV

Amen.

Healing

August 17, 2010

The Lord gives us authority to resist sickness, disease and related symptoms, often prompting us to use that authority prophetically against things to come; He instructs us to pray first, declaring His healing for those affected by sickness of any kind and prophetically praying against Satan’s design for even new diseases before they occur.

Prayer forms a blanket of God’s protection, blocking known causes of disease and raising a standard against new virus strains and plagues. This prayer protection blocks hidden germs or bacteria related to the occurrence of sudden illnesses—even residual effects of terror-related catastrophes. Remember, disease and terrors both derive from the same source; both originate at the very root with Satan.

Where there is sickness there is fear; essentially the threat of sickness lies in its power to instill fear that it has power to harm, control or destroy, and that its power is greater than anything else. The cause of this sickness-fear-threat is explained in the Bible where sickness is referred to as a “spirit” of infirmity and fear, a “spirit” of fear.

The number one Bible response to physical symptoms—small, or great—is prayer. First, we pray: 1) thanking Jesus for His assurance of healing and deliverance purchased at Calvary, 2) repenting of anything done to re-instate the authority of sickness concerning us and 3) casting out of our lives every spirit of fear and infirmity.

Amen.

Go Back

August 16, 2010

”End time” living challenges us personally to make an honest assessment—to go back to the point in our walk with the Lord where we selectively determined what part of God we wanted and what part we did not want . . . back to the point where we refused counsel in order to do as we wanted despite the pleas of those more mature and experienced. . . back to times past when the Spirit was willing but we refused Him, choosing instead the stylish or worldly, the cool and politically correct. Jesus described the challenge saying the gate is narrow but there are eternal benefits that come with choosing it. Consider going back there, to that gate. Matthew 7:13-15

Satan plots destruction and increasingly so as we move further into the end times described in the Bible. Demon spirits of sickness and disease—including mental and emotional illnesses are released more now, you might say with full vent! The stronger plan, though, is the Lord’s—He GIVES life and life more abundantly. There is nothing better that being in His shadow and nothing more successful than His plan.
Daniel 12:1

Go back. There is never a time when the Lord will not hear the humble cry of His people. Close the door that was opened back there. Take communion and begin again. Ask God to forgive you for turning His Spirit away at the gate and for tuning him out of family, allowing instead pleasure and mammon to build the family’s altar.  Life and death are in the balance . . . as are marriages . . . as are sons and daughters. Go back!

Amen.
