Wisdom’s Mark

September 3, 2010

There are times when we all have crossed the line of mature, thoughtful behavior into foolishness, behavior characteristic of a fool; biblically there is one explanation for foolishness—an absence of wisdom. If specific incidents stood alone, isolated from every other detail of our lives, that would be one thing; but the opposite is true—actions attract, and words establish allegiances. A stroll on the wrong side of God’s line opens an invisible door, the results of which we will see again in a surprisingly future setting, at a time when we least need or expect it.

Don’t be careless with time and actions. Remember words are the most powerful force in the universe. God said, ‘Light be!’ and the entire universe flooded with light. Your words either create wisdom, or something other than wisdom. Not only do those same words train us, but our children also watch and listen, then imitate what they see and hear. The wise man builds on rock—not sand.

Amen.
