Promotion Comes

December 31, 2010

From a biblical perspective, the Lord is overseer of human promotion here on earth and the ambitions of men are weighed by Him in light of a foundational design expressed in Abraham’s calling: In thee shall all families of the earth be blessed; and, in thee shall all nations be blessed. Psalm 75:6 Genesis 12:3

If we look personally for a measure by which to evaluate 2010 and project for the year ahead, and if we desire increase in our field, the way the Lord established Abraham and his descendants is the measure we should choose. Such is the calling for each of us; such is the distinction that promotes or sidelines us in Kingdom matters: In you all the nations shall be blessed. Galatians 3:8

Personally and then outwardly, our world view must therefore line up with this measure. As ambassadors of His love for others we take the position ordained for us before the foundation of the worlds. There, in that field, we fill to the maximum and impact to the utmost every aspect of that placement, to the full extent of His intention: Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven! Ephesians 1:4 1 Peter 1:20 Luke 19:13 Matthew 6:10

Amen.

Appointed Things

December 30, 2010

God appoints particular people for particular tasks and each one is gifted by the Lord to accomplish these assignments; in the divine outworking, God is both Giver of the gift and also Governor of the assignment. His governmental paths are (all) peace and His blessing of peace connects us to certain paths where His government over life-assignments is established. Our part is to agree with His leading and when we do, His government displaces worldly confusion with order and the driving force of the world’s way of doing things with His peace. Best of all, His government over the appointed things in our lives and the fruit of peace produced are increasing—more divine order and more peace!

“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
there shall be no end, to order it,
and to establish it with judgment and with justice…
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:6-7

The government of God is among is—He will save us for He is mighty to save! He is Lord of the Hosts—Captain! And He is zealous to provide and will command His government for your life—if asked!

Amen.

Bright Hope

December 29, 2010

The night of Jesus’ betrayal he warned that one of the twelve disciples would betray Him. Judas, pretending defiance at the exposure, continued moving in the unbelievable path he had chosen—he proceeded to betray Love into a conspiracy of murder.

Peter, another of the twelve, contended with Jesus about the warning, insulating himself from the charge and claiming innocence of wrong-doing, adamant he would never do such a thing and, again, defiant before the one whose Love carried him.

Confronted by Jesus, Judas remained loyal to brutal plans, and confronted by Jesus, Peter remained headstrong—unmoved. Deception works in the heart and we cannot deliver ourselves—we are blinded to it, disbelieving what we are capable of.

Neither disciple actually heard what Jesus said; both ignored the voice of Love calling them back from the precipice. As was the case that fateful night, deliverance for us today pivots on our willingness to hear the Lord. To continue the way things are may cost at great deal: The enemy plans to trap, and ultimately kill precious vision, hopes and dreams—and to drain every ounce of joy from every life that will allow him.

Watchers are needed—those who watch for and hold onto, who encourage strength but also confront; and not just once or sporadically—no, it takes commitment and time to stand with someone until finally the Lord by His Spirit can speak and be heard and reveal the root of what is not right. Freedom is the reward—true freedom, and bright hope! That’s the plan!

Amen.

As we look forward to a new beginning…

December 28, 2010

The Book of Proverbs teaches wisdom and practical guidance, holy principles and a Godly fear of the Lord. It is a wisdom book—from God’s perspective the way life should be. One verse in particular provides a great visual: the way something begins is the way it will grow, and the way it grows predicts what it can become:

– Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent], and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:5-7, AMP

– An old, non-biblical proverb expresses it this way: “As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.”

Parents, as a new year begins, go before the Lord to receive a word for each of your children. When it comes to bending the twig, the Word of the Lord is your authority!

Everyone, the Lord has fresh strategy for each person who will ask: He has prophecy for you—declaration of His will. He has words of knowledge and words of wisdom for you—information you may not have otherwise. Pray in the Spirit and ask Him for the interpretation—He has promised to tell His people of things to come. Isaiah 45:11-12

Amen.

Whatever He Says To You, Do It!

December 27, 2010

Consider the present-day company that compares to those who were at Cana the day Jesus’ miracle ministry began; in the consideration we realize there are modern counterparts for key players in John chapter two. John 2

Mary, for example, was a catalyst; her involvement set the stage when she spoke first to Jesus, then to the servants. Ultimately you could say Jesus followed Mary’s leading as did the servants who Mary instructed simply “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

Apparently she spoke with considerable authority; otherwise, those servants would not have obeyed instructions given by a woman since the culture of that time did not grant authority to a woman.

The servants also had a part; if they had refused Mary’s instruction, could the miracle have taken place? The lesson for us is obvious: Authority is discernable, producing visible fruit; authority speaks and someone responds accordingly. Rules, doctrine and cultures do not dictate Godly authority, at least not ultimately. God alone establishes authority, through whom He chooses.

The Lord manifests His love through those available for the mission. He stirs the heart for divine purpose and speaks clearly. His leading is not complicated or mystical and obedience is to simply discern His Spirit and honestly witness to His Truth. Philippians 2:13

Whatever He says to you, do it!

Amen.

Gift Container

December 25, 2010

It’s Christmas, our Christ-Celebration! Concerning the One who thought it up and gave the very best gift, I offer my hallel, my exuberant worship: “Lord God, YOU made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and still You are mindful of me, giving me the gift of Your only Son to be Savior, and Friend.”

It really is overwhelming. We may grow beyond childlike thrills of waking up to the gifts of Christmas morning, or traditions of family celebrations, but we never get beyond the most basic realization, He came to die—a baby, God’s gift container in human flesh, came to give, His life for my sin! O come, let us adore Him!

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, “God with us.” Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.” Matthew 1:18-25, NKJV

Joyfully, gratefully, we celebrate the birth, the coming, of our Savior and Lord.

O come to us, abide with us, our Lord, Emmanuel!

Amen.

Man Lives By Every Word That Proceeds From God

December 23, 2010

Man does not live on natural bread alone, but derives his life force and breath from each proceeding Word from God. The spirit in man draws from something all the time—imbibing of the spirit or spirits involved, and thereby encouraged or quenched concerning God’s plan. Be warned—what is deposited in your heart today determines the steps you will choose tomorrow. Be encouraged—the Word of God will quicken – make alive, give breath to – us with God’s wisdom and expose all rival issues to the light of His eternal truth. Matthew 4:4, Job 32:8, Proverbs 4:23, Luke 21:15, 1 Thessalonians 5:19

The Amplified expresses it well, joining our life’s breath and immortal spirit to God’s eternal Word:

“For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power
[making it active, operative, energizing, and effective];
it is sharper than any two-edged sword,
penetrating to the dividing line of
the breath of life (soul)
and [the immortal] spirit,
and of joints and marrow [of the deepest part of our nature],
exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging
the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.
And not a creature exists that is concealed from His sight,
but all things are open and exposed, naked and defenseless
To the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do.” Hebrews 4:12-13, AMP

Amen.

Wonderful Season

December 22, 2010

Each Christmas is precious. We embrace the giving of gifts and create new memories that make each year special; and even if there is a scrooge attitude here and there, for most, the season’s warmth motivates no matter our situation.

For some friends life is very different this year—a loss, or struggle, or maybe something unfair that cannot be restored in the natural sense. These are the friends we gather around most, to support and comfort, and to remind when the Lord allows a door to close, He has already begun to open another.

As the Lord’s covenant sons and daughters, we remember Psalm 105: His judgments are working and bring justice right into the very center of our lives; He remembers His covenant forever and the word HE commands concerning us never stop!

To belong to the LORD and have His hand upon our lives is greater than anything, including sadness or disappointment; it’s also greater than any other exaltation. The Lord’s hand upon your life is the highest condition and is the way we look into this season.

Christmas belongs to the LORD and to His people. From our vantage point we take this opportune time to change yesterday’s clothes for new ones—a birthing time! We embrace newness with all the anointing and all the joy God places upon this time.

Oh come; let us adore Him – Christ the LORD.

Amen!

This Christmas…

December 21, 2010

We realize so much in times of challenge. Under pressure, we realize the true crux of the matter may have little to do with details we can actually see; it may relate more to something earlier—something hidden, which means the chances of working through those details, “to finding the end of that rope,” are not as good. Hidden things are hard to address.

Abram began to journey. He aimed for a land the Lord had revealed to him—that’s good; but along the way he turned toward Egypt anticipating supply from that land, perhaps a lapse of confidence in the God He began following—not good. Later, Abram’s decision concerning Hagar, his wife’s servant, began more controllable than it became and Hagar did not go away as everyone hoped, because God did not let her. The same is true in your situation today; the core problem has become something more than at first—it will not go away because God will not let it go away.

The compromise Abram made reminds us that discipleship and accountability protect us, not just in normal daily problems, but also when, left to our choices, like Abram we could be allured into wrong, often devastating choices. Being accountable to a Godly person or group is protection as we journey—accountability saves us, often from ourselves! It means we can ask for and receive counsel both when we know we need help, as well as when we are clueless and do not yet even realize our need. In both, the Lord spotlights the center, the heart of the matter—the problem back there that has suddenly found its voice!

This Christmas the Lord will not let you go—into another wilderness, another wrong setting, and certainly not away from his presence! This year you will face it; and when you do worship will be the next thing you experience: You are in His Hand, held tightly, and this year your experience is and will be “God with us!”

O come, O come! Emmanuel!

Amen.
