Offended

We push past the Lord’s counsel as though we have sufficient brain and will power to handle things on our own. And when others offer counsel or warning about the direction we’ve chosen, we take offense. Ultimately, we find ourselves in turmoil the Lord never intended. 
 
Our insensitivity becomes especially obvious when the fruit of choosing our own way ripens, when in the full-blown crisis, we challenge God—why He let this thing happen, why He is not answering our prayers, why He is deaf to our pleas for deliverance, and why He permitted this outcome. We become offended at Him… at the Lord! 
 
If being offended is your regular habit or attitude, decide today to change that. Open your heart to hear both the Lord and others he sends, and rather than snubbing their wisdom and choosing to be offended, thinking you are above such, consciously practice listening for the Lord and His people. 
 
Specifically ask God to speak into your situation and send others to help as well. Don’t go your own way alone. The Lord’s counsel is a gazillion times greater than your intellectual dominance. In the crisis, you need more than a persona and a heavy hand; you need the Lord’s mighty presence.
