“And Samuel said to all the people, “Do you see him whom the LORD has chosen, that there is no one like him among all the people?” So all the people shouted and said, “Long live the king!” Then Samuel explained to the people the behavior of royalty and wrote it in a book and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house. And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and valiant men went with him, whose hearts God had touched.” (1 Samuel 10:24-25)
The prophet Samuel proclaimed Saul would be king. Chosen by God, Saul would carry the mark of royalty, something Saul was born to beyond merit or ability. Similarly, every person who is born again is born into the Lord’s royal priesthood, regardless of merit or ability.
We see it in those around us—the Lord’s gifts, unique in each one. Each carries a royal mark, expressive of kings! Beyond the gifts, each has a sovereign calling to release those gifts into the lives of others—naturally, instinctively, gracefully, and for the benefit of many.
Gifts entrusted to us by God are our most joyful experiences of faith. Giving of ourselves into His purpose to bless the whole world raises us to life in the highest degree, rich blessing in the places where the Lord sends us. We are kings, born again into His royal line, carriers of the heavenly element, on assignment… chosen!
Amen.
