To the faithful person, God shows himself faithful. The Lord rewards faithful men and women. For them, faith to pray comes easily because simply put, they are favored before the Lord for their faithfulness. The supernatural gift of faith activates on their behalf when their needs become known.

By contrast and to make the point, the unfaithful person may experience God’s never-ending mercy. Perhaps because another person continually holds them before the Lord in prayer. But the unfaithful person is opposite to the one who is faithful… habitually refusing faithful discipline in practical, daily life. And because they are not faithful, they cannot receive the same reward as the one found faithful.

There is no comparing an unfaithful man to one who is faithful. The Lord does not minimize a faithful man to bolster up or somehow balance the losing streak of an unfaithful man. So, it is not one at the expense of the other.

If God gave an unfaithful person the faithful man’s reward, the imbalance would work contrary to God’s plan for all involved. God, our Father, is loving and kind. He is also judge. His justice is always innocent, always perfectly just.

Amen.
