Compassion for those who are sick means we care deeply for them. Their concerns are ours also and we are touched, as is our Lord, with their struggle against infirmity. We are committed to them with our prayers.
But we also know that the one who is sick is responsible to personally engage the Lord concerning any kind of affliction. In the book of James, we learn that anyone who is sick should ask for prayer, their expression of faith toward God. Their appeal is to God.
Elders, as leaders of God’s people, are instructed to respond to a request for prayer that is made in faith and to pray faith-filled prayers, a demonstration of faith in God and His promise to heal. Anytime we come to God we must believe that He is… He is God.
Without faith we cannot bless God. Without faith, even our ability to receive healing is affected. And without confident knowledge of God’s promise to heal us, found in His Word, we are less confident and true faith for healing is therefore small.
Go to God’s Word. Invest quality time. Meditate upon verses and passages that speak about God’s love through healing. You want your faith to grow so you can believe for and receive healing… so God’s anointing of healing can work on your behalf. Faith toward God releases healing power.
Speak words that agree with the outcome you desire.
Trust God to deliver you.
Amen.
