The Lord ordained specific purposes for each life, and to accomplish those, we were never meant to go it alone. We cannot grow spiritually without wise counsel from people He places in our lives. Not just one or two friends and a few casual acquaintances, but a circle around us of those who have spiritual integrity to speak up when something isn’t right.
Many isolated believers cause heartache for themselves, family, and others because they alone rule in their own affairs, without interference, basically because they can. They either do not have or refuse to have a circle of believers who can watch for them.
Isolated this way, charm is deceptive, agendas are shared by only one of two, and if initially it seems destructive actions continue unchecked, that does not mean God approves. Unfortunately, it takes time, often years, to realize damage has been done. The person on top today likely will not be then.
We need an entourage of those highly developed in God’s Word and with spiritual discernment to surround us—wise counselors, Godly influences. For you and for me, life is no place to go it alone.
Amen.
