Your Righteous Cause

“Let them shout for joy and be glad who favor my righteous cause; And let them say continually, ‘Let the Lord be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.’” (Psalm 35:27)

The psalmist knew that others agreed with his righteous cause: the righteous cause of a man, a righteous pursuit. And obviously, the Lord was involved, but the reference is to the psalmist. The cause was his. 

The same is true of your righteous cause. Your life is an epistle, the Bible says, read and known of all men. And people walking with you in the cause you’ve undertaken are joined to the cause right along with you—they cheer you forward and prayerfully keep watch for you because they know that if your resolve weakens, the ordeal may be prolonged, and if your heart is broken in the pursuit, your cause may also break down.

Go to God’s Word. You are certain that what you are doing is right… righteous. Your humility speaks volumes. You understand in the deepest part of who you are, and in the way that God wired you, this is a God-thing! You stepped up and began.  

You are not alone. Around you, a team of encouragers knows by the Spirit what is ahead. They sense joy and celebration coming! Of course, they see what you’re going through, and like you, they are impatient for breakthroughs, but they know that your cause will be rewarded. They know that the Lord is on your side; they know that he takes pleasure in you. 

They say repeatedly, “Let the Lord be magnified! He is so pleased with you, His servant.” They talk about you every day—continually. They speak up to insist upon your vindication. They testify to the Lord’s presence that is with you, proven in your ability to make righteous decisions.  

And they exhort you… magnify the Lord! In the way you do this, in the way you live, magnify the Lord!
