“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4)

The Christian day of Pentecost, celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter, commemorates the arrival of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus’ apostles and followers who were gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Weeks, described in the Book of Acts.

In this Pentecost season we cherish the gift of the Holy Spirit and the Spirit Presence that comes when we pray. Because His Spirit is alive and literally lives inside each believer, we see with a spiritual eye and hear with spiritual ears. We grasp Spirit-inspired prayer to pray skillfully and overthrow every darkness, securing the Lord’s plan, in Jesus’ Name!

The Lord is present. Stay close to Him in heart and intellect. Do not be afraid and do not dread. Be vigilant and disciplined in prayer and remain steady in times of shaking.

Amen.
